🩸 My Sickle Cell Journey

Some days are good, and some are bad. Living with sickle cell means being in and out of the hospital, but through it all, being educated about my condition has made me stronger.

One of the biggest challenges I face is with my ankle. My sickle cell complications have led to multiple surgeries over the last two years. It’s a cycle of healing, reopening, and trying again. On top of that, I also live with Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH), which adds to the daily struggle. Breathing deeply and practicing yoga helps bring me some peace and strength.

πŸ’Š Daily Warrior Life

To manage my health, I:

  • Take my sickle cell medications consistently

  • Stay hydrated with water and orange juice

  • Focus on a protein-rich diet

🧑 My Support System

My strength comes from my core:
My mom, grandma, stepdad, close family members, and a small circle of loyal friends have stood by me and continue to be my motivation every day.

πŸŽ™οΈ Turning Pain into Purpose

A positive light in my journey has been creating my podcast and building a mentoring and support group for people with sickle cell. Both are growing beautifully, and I’m proud to be a voice and support for others navigating this journey.

✨ My Advice to You

β€œKeep your head up. Put one foot in front of the other and keep going. Then look in the mirror and tell yourself: I am beautiful/handsome and strong. Impossible is nothing. I can do anything I set my mind to.”

πŸ‘‘ Thank you, Aiyannah, for being the first warrior to grace our page and speak out. Your strength, purpose, and courage remind us all what it truly means to live Life as a Warrior.
